70’s And 80’s Beauty Products

70’s And 80’s Beauty Products

As a teenager in the 80’s, my room and bathroom cabinet were always full of beauty products, some of which I still wish were available.  Like Lee Press-On Nails. What’s not to love about an instant manicure you could give yourself minutes before your friends picked you up to go to the carnival?!
Agree shampoo and creme rinse:  the fruity-floral scent was invigorating in the shower on chilly school mornings. As a matter of fact, there were so may shampoos in the 80’s that were the bees knees!  Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific and the original Herbal Essence with the picture of the girl bathing in the pond were great.  And remember Silkience?  The gorgeous Oriental model in the tv commercial had the best hair, hands down.
One of the neatest package designs was for Lip Lickers lip balm.  Deliciously flavored lip balms in a tin slider container.  It fit perfectly in my Jordache purse along with Anais Anais perfume.
Remember the unusual bottle design of Tickle deodorant?  The see-through the container had an inner chamber which held about a third of product.
Then there’s the Aqua Net, which is still available today for those sky-high hair do’s.  It smelled awful, even the unscented had a chemically smell to it.  I’m amazed my lungs didn’t get glued stiff from breathing in the aerosol cloud that came with usage.
What else can I add to the list of 70’s and 80’s Beauty Products?

57 Channels And Nothing On

57 Channels And Nothing On

That Bruce Springsteen song comes to mind sometimes when I’m flipping thru the TV channels.   A friend of mine is a broadcast engineer and has an HDTV antenna for his tv.  He gets local HD channels and doesn’t pay a cent.  Remember the days of free tv?  Still having free radio is pretty cool, too.  My…Continue Reading

Remember Pong?

Remember Pong?

My earliest memories of playing video games was around 1980 at my cousin’s house.  Pong, with the sound effects of a grammar school hearing test, was so simple, yet fun. Then came the Atari craze.  Opening up that console on Christmas morning was awesome!  Just hook it up to the back of the tv, set…Continue Reading

Peanut Butter Cookies

Peanut Butter Cookies

Lately, I’ve been *trying* to steer clear of eating foods made with ingredients I can’t pronounce.   One food I absolutely can’t live with out is peanut butter. But only the natural kind, made with freshly ground peanuts.   As if peanut butter wasn’t a treat in and of itself, I’m dying for peanut butter cookies.  After searching high…Continue Reading

I would be traveling to Portugal next year…that is great!   I’ll be visiting the wine regions, and vineyards around the country…even better!  And, Easy 99.1 listeners will be coming with me…well that put it over the top!   This is my first time ever…Continue Reading

Get the car washed, oil changed, check the tires, and pile everyone into the car! Heading up north to view the fall foliage is an experience beloved by many. Maples, Oaks, and Birch trees, all bursting with color….so pretty. Be it just for a weekend at your favorite hotel (with a hot tub!), staying at a…Continue Reading

Halloween Pet Pics

Halloween Pet Pics

October rolls around and our social media news feeds are crammed with a tidal wave of Halloween pet pics. Chihuahu Tacos and Pug Ballerinas are always fun to see! Although I’ve never tried to dress a Chihuahua in a taco costume, I imagine it would be easier than getting a cat to wear a lobster costume….the…Continue Reading

Paper Vs Plastic

Paper Vs Plastic

I love shopping at my favorite grocery store.  The prices are the best around and each department has great variety and quality.  I love me some pecan pie or apple fitters from their bakery any day.  BUT, OMG….those bags.  The 1979-era paper bags have got to go.  They made great school book covers, though; you…Continue Reading

Harvest Season in New England

Harvest Season in New England

Locally-grown fruits and veggies are sooo delicious and they make it easy to eat healthy. There’s something so satisfying about biting into a freshly-picked peach…. so juicy and sweet.  Hearing and feeling the snap of a green bean…you know it’s fresh and nutritious. A BLT made with a red beefsteak has got to be one…Continue Reading

A taste and a pizza that was always home to me

A taste and a pizza that was always home to me

I lived in the DC area for 5 years.  During that time, I could never a favorite of mine,  linguica and chourico.  Naturally when I returned for visits, I would stock up.  I also love making homemade pizza, and linguica is a great topping.  Here is another great idea for when you pick up some…Continue Reading
