Good morning, listeners!
It’s been a huge week in music!
Billy Joel’s new song Turn the Lights Back On was released yesterday! If you haven’t heard it yet, you can check it out here! I’ve only listened to it once, but I did like it! I think it would take a few more listens for it to really feel like a Billy Joel song to me, but I did enjoy that first listen. I’m curious to hear what all of you think!
There was also a documentary released earlier this week called The Greatest Night in Pop which gives us a behind the scenes look at the making of We are the World.
Here is how the documentary is described: On a January night in 1985, music’s biggest stars gather to record “We Are the World.” The team goes behind the scenes of the event to see how all of the artists came together to make history. The film also features interviews with numerous people involved in making the song like Bruce Springsteen, Huey Lewis, Dione Warwick, and more!
If you’re interested, that documentary is on Netflix and you can watch it here.
Justin Timberlake has also been in the spotlight this week after the release of his new single last week and new album coming on March 15th.
He is going to be touring this spring and tickets go on sale TODAY at 10am local time. If you’re interested, he will be in Boston at the TD Garden on June 29th and 30th. Tickets for all of his shows can be purchased here.
Timberlake also spoke with Kelly Clarkson this week and teased some new *NSYNC music saying. “We’ve been in the studio, so there may be a little something in the future.”
If this pans out, it will be their first new release in over 20 years, aside from the song they released late last year for the Trolls Band Together film.
This year’s Grammy Awards ceremony is on Sunday at 8pm. It will air on CBS and Paramount+ and you can check out the full list of nominees here. I’m curious to see this year who/what songs from Barbie will win and I also am very curious to see who will win in the Best Musical Theatre category.
Taylor Swift could also make history at the Grammys this year – she could become the first singer to win album of the year FOUR times. Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, and Taylor Swift have each won it three times, but she could make it four if she wins this year.
In other news, the next Supergirl has been found! Milly Alcock will be playing Supergirl in upcoming DC films! She and Meg Donelly were the final two in the search for our newest Kara Zor-El, but in the end, Milly Alcock landed the role.
There is also an SNL Movie in the works – it will be a look behind the scenes into the moments that led up to SNL’s first broadcast in 1975. So far, we know that Lamorne Morris will be playing Garrett Morris, Dylan O’Brien will be playing Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith will be playing Chevy Chase, and Matt Wood has been cast as John Belushi. You can read more about the upcoming film here!
