Jordyn’s Buzz – July 29th, 2022

Welcome back to The Buzz! We weren’t on air this morning, but I’ve still got a lot to share with you!

First up is the next step in Elton John’s career. This was a big week for Sir Elton in Boston – he played two shows at Gillette Stadium this week – and it also came out that Elton is going to be collaborating with Britney Spears.

Next month, they’re going to be releasing a duet of Tiny Dancer with Universal Music!

Elton John has been collaborating with many popular artists of today, like Charlie Puth and Ed Sheeran, so it should come as no surprise that Britney Spears is next, and what better way for her to dive back into music than with the legend himself?

Katie Holmes is also diving back into the entertainment industry with her new film ‘Alone Together’. Part of what makes this project so special is that Holmes’ daughter – Suri Cruise – made her singing debut in the film.

Holmes wrote, directed, and stars in this film, which is a COVID-era romantic comedy that was released in theaters and on VOD today, so you won’t want to miss this one.

Guillermo del Toro also has a new film coming this fall. Del Toro has had a wildly successful career thus far – having worked on movies like The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth, and two Hobbit movies – and it looks like his new film Pinocchio will not disappoint.

It’s been said that his film “explicitly promises ‘a story you think you know, but you don’t’”.

If you’d like to see a trailer, I’ve linked it below.

This past weekend at Comic Con was also a huge weekend for the film world as we got a deeper look into what the future holds for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The most exciting and anticipated thing potentially being what the new Black Panther movie, Wakanda Forever, is going to look like.

After losing Chadwick Boseman, fans have been sad and nervous about what the future holds, and the stars of the movie have come forward saying how difficult creating this movie has been without him. They’ve said that it never got easier to work without Boseman, and they paid tribute to him every single day with every single breath and every word in every scene.

Looking at the film from the outside, it’s been difficult to even envision what this world will look like without him, and Comic Con gave us our first look at what that will be. In just 24 hours, the trailer got 172 million views. If you want to see for yourself, take a look below.

Moving onto the television world, it’s looking like this week has brought us some new faces and brought new faces to old tv shows, but we’ve lost someone too.

Tony Dow, who played Wally Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver, passed away at age 77 after a cancer diagnosis back in March. Not only was Dow a talented actor, he also found love and passion in art as a sculptor, and he will be dearly missed by his family and his fans.

On a happier note, Ashton Kutcher spoke this past week about his experience being back on set for the spin-off of That 70s Show, called That 90s Show.

He’s only set to make guest appearances, but he said his experience was nostalgic and odd. He said they shot for a week, and being back on set and back in the basement from the original series was weird, as was being back around everybody.

The new spin-off is set to centralize around Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti’s daughter during her summer visit with her grandparents.

Kutcher, along with Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama from the original cast, are set to make guest appearances, and Kutcher has confirmed that the show is very funny and the new cast are phenomenal.

I’m super excited to see this one when it premieres, as it seems Kutcher is too.

Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy has also signed for some exciting new faces to join the cast. Harry Shum Jr., who starred on Glee, is joining the cast along with Adelaide Kane who starred on Reign, Teen Wolf, and Once Upon a Time, Alexis Floyd of Inventing Anna, Niko Terho, and Midori Francis from Dash & Lily and The Sex Lives of College Girls. It should be exciting to see how all of these new faces will coalesce into the Grey’s Anatomy universe.

Deacon Phillippe, son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, is also making exciting steps in his career as well. He has landed his first official acting gig, debuting on season three of Never Have I Ever on Netflix.

Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have also officially landed permanent roles as the hosts of Jeopardy. It’s seemed like this was the case for awhile, but it’s finally official now!

And lastly, for our music fans, Beyonce’s new album ‘Renaissance’ is officially out now! Unfortunately for Beyonce, the album leaked about two days prior to its expected release, but I don’t think that will take away from her sales or streaming numbers.

This has been a hugely anticipated album, and I am confident fans will be streaming this album nonstop for the foreseeable future.

See you next week for another edition of The Buzz!
