I know we’ve talked about reboots and reunions for older shows and movies a lot on The Buzz and I always say I’m excited, but I have never been as excited for a reboot as I am for this one.
Word on the street is that there is a new Legally Blonde series in the works! I grew up OBSESSED with the Legally Blonde movie and accompanying musical, so I’m so excited to see where they choose to take this story next.
Reese Witherspoon, who starred as Elle Woods in the original film, is reported to be developing the spin off series with her Hello Sunshine company at Amazon MGM Studios. There is also apparently a Legally Blonde 3 film that has been in the works for years now by Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor.
This new series is reportedly written by Gossip Girl developers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, so it’s likely there will be tons of drama and romance throughout the series. No casting or specific storylines have been revealed yet, but it’s probably safe to assume that Reese will at least be making a cameo, if not regular appearances.
If you want more info, I read a great article from Elle and another from Deadline as well!
We’ve also talked a great deal about the Beetlejuice sequel on The Buzz, but there has never been too much specific info to talk about. This week, though, we learned some new things about the upcoming film!
Several of the cast members appeared at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and we learned that Delia and Lydia move back into the house from the first film, bringing Astrid, Lydia’s daughter, with them. Astrid finds the model of the town in the attic and accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife, bringing Beetlejuice into the film.
If you want to read more, check out this article from Entertainment Weekly – they did a great job summarizing what the actors spoke about at CinemaCon!
Check out the teaser they’ve released for the film below!
We also got our first look at the upcoming Joker film with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. The film is set for a theatrical release on October 4th and so far, the cast and plot have been kept under wraps. It’s also a musical, which I didn’t see coming! Check out the trailer below.
If you’re looking for new music, John Oates is set to deliver! He has an LP called Reunion that he is releasing on May 17th. He’s said that he is on a journey of rediscovery right now, figuring out who he is as an individual, so it’s likely the album will centralize around themes like this.
He’s also going out on the road this summer! If you’re interested, he’ll be at The Cabot in Beverly on August 24th and you can find tickets here.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, a recording of Billy Joel’s 100th show at Madison Square Garden will be airing at 9pm on Sunday night. Billy Joel has had an MSG residency for ten years now and he has sold out every single Madison Square Garden show (more than any other artist!).
His residency will be coming to an end this year, so if you can’t make a show but want to experience it, tune in on Sunday! If you want more info about the show, check out this article. It does discuss the show at length, so if you’d rather it be a surprise, I’d suggest waiting until after Sunday’s program to read it.
Speaking of legends, Paul McCartney spoke about Beyonce’s cover of his song Blackbird, featured on her new album. Check out what he said here.
In terms of tv, the new season of Bridgerton is going to be released on Netflix on next month! Part 1 of season 3 is dropping on the platform on May 16th, then the second half of the season will be released on June 13th. Check out the trailer below!
This next article was released a few months ago, but Hollywood Reporter ranked the 50 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century (So Far) and I’m curious to hear what you think! Some of the shows on there I definitely agree with, some I don’t even know, and others I feel should be included on the list and they’re not, so let me know your thoughts!
Lastly, Blake Lively is so often in the headlines and this week was no different! It was announced this week that a sequel to the film A Simple Favor which starred Lively and Anna Kendrick is in the works. You can find more info here!
