Jordyn’s Buzz – June 9th, 2023

Believe it or not, the film Titanic has been in the headlines a lot this week.

With Celine Dion canceling her tour due to her health issues and TikTok sensation Chris Olsen posting this video, it’s been easy for Titanic to be on everyone’s minds.

Someone out there though is taking a few steps further than the rest of us.

User titanicfan97 on TikTok has a greater obsession with the film than anyone I’ve ever met and I’d wager anyone that you’ve ever met either. As a megafan of Jack Dawson and the James Cameron film, titanicfan97 has made it his mission to collect 1,000,000 (yes, you read that right, one MILLION) VHS copies of the 1997 film.

So far, he’s collected over 1,500 copies and he has followers from all over who send him copies that they’ve found as well. Check out this article to hear the full story.

And if you have a copy of Titanic on VHS that you want to get off your hands and want to contribute to this gentleman’s collection, you can send it to PO Box 5355 Largo, FL 33779.

Have you ever liked a movie so much you wanted to collect a million copies of it? Personally, I don’t think I do, but drop a comment if you think you’d do this or know someone you think might!

Moving on, if you’re a fan of The Office, you’ll be excited by this news.

Normally, when I say something like that, it means we’re getting a movie or maybe a spin off or reunion show, but I think this news may be more exciting. Australia is getting its own Office series called The Office Australia.

Instead of an office led by a Michael Scott character, it’s going to be female led, so not only are fans getting an entirely new series of The Office, it will have its own, original twists and turns which I’m sure fans of the show will love to see.

And fear not! Despite it being an Australian series, the series, which is the 13th international remake of The Office, will be streaming on Prime in the US. Production on the series has already begun, so you should be able to expect to see it sometime in 2024.

And fans of Hocus Pocus will also be excited by THIS news! After waiting nearly 30 years for a sequel to the original Hocus Pocus movie, fans finally got a sequel last fall. Immediately, there were talks of a third movie and it’s looking like we won’t have to wait another 30 years to see it!

It was confirmed this week that Hocus Pocus III is already in the works!

The storyline is yet to be released as is casting, but it’s very exciting to know that there is something in the works. And although it hasn’t been confirmed whether the three original Sanderson Sisters will be in the film, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker in the past have all expressed interest in being part of the franchise going forward, so hopefully we will see those familiar faces once again!

Again, this is all speculation, but it’s looking like there’s been a discussion of bringing back the original trio from the first movie as well – Omri Katz who played Max, Thora Birch who played Dani, and Vinessa Shaw who played Allison. There were discussions for the second film in reference to how these three characters could come back, and ultimately they did not end up coming back, but it would be interesting to see if in the third movie they can work them in.

Lastly, the new Peacock series Based on a True Story dropped on the streaming platform yesterday and it’s getting rave reviews! The series stars some big time names including Kaley Cuoco, Chris Messina, Tom Bateman, Liana Liberato, and Natalia Dyer.

The show follows a married couple who feel like their lives are falling apart, but when Ava (Cucoco), a true crime junkie, figures out a friend of hers (Bateman) is a serial killer, she and her husband (Messina) devise a plan to blackmail the friend. As you can imagine, it’s a bumpy ride.

The show has been dominating headlines for weeks now, so I know I’m looking forward to sitting down this weekend and checking out what all the hype has been about. Let us know if you check it out!
