It’s been a big week in Boston since the last time we talked!
Last Saturday, Neil Diamond made an appearance at the Red Sox game, leading fans as they sang Sweet Caroline. This is the third time I know of that he sang the iconic, Boston anthem at Fenway: once back in 2010 for the team’s season opener and in 2013 following the Boston Marathon Bombing. This particular day was made even more special though, since Diamond retired from performing live back in 2018.
Diamond made another surprise appearance in Boston this week at the premiere of the musical A Beautiful Noise, the Neil Diamond Musical at the Emerson Colonial Theater.
The show is a musical about Neil Diamond and his life, and it’s premiering in Boston for six weeks, now through July 31st, before heading to Broadway. This show and the city of Boston are near and dear to Diamond’s heart, so you won’t want to miss this opportunity to see it in Boston before it makes its way to New York.
See our previous post about the musical for more information, and to purchase tickets, visit this site.
Gronk announced this past week that he’s retiring again, but I’m not sure if I believe him.
Even his agent commented it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Gronk was coaxed out of retirement again, so I’m curious: do you think he’ll follow through?
Last week on The Buzz, we talked about the potential damages to Marilyn Monroe’s dress after Kim Kardashian wore it to the Met Gala, and Kim has now responded to those accusations.
She says she wore the dress for less than 5 minutes and she has respect for Marilyn Monroe and for what the dress means to American history. Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, where the dress had been prior to Kim wearing it, also commented denying any damages, saying that the dress was in the same condition when Kim took the dress off at the top of the stairs as when she put it on at the bottom of the Met steps.
Kim even went on to say again how important it was to her to wear the dress and how she lost weight in order to be able to do so, and because of that, the healthy habits she had to take up in order to fit into the dress have continued to be instilled in her life, even after the Met Gala was over.
This has also been a huge week for movies.
Kristen Bell (unofficially) announced that Frozen 3 is coming, so Disney fans: know that you shouldn’t have to wait too too long now to see this franchise continue on!
Bell said on Jimmy Fallon that members of the Frozen cast have voiced interest in continuing with the movies, so why wait?
Mindy Kaling also came forward saying that the script for the third Legally Blonde movie is in the works and should be completed by the middle of the summer.
For anyone who’s seen Legally Blonde, you know how iconic the Bend and Snap is, and Kaling acknowledged this, saying that the team has paid close attention to all the details of the first movie, and something funny she noted was trying to figure out what the 2022 version of the bend and snap would be. So fear not: despite this being the third movie of the franchise, the creative team is still working to make sure it has as similar a feel to its roots as possible.
For all Back to the Future Fans out there, I have some very exciting news! Back to the Future is headed to Broadway! They haven’t announced when it will begin – beyond the fact that it will be in 2023 – and they haven’t announced what theater it will be in or who the cast and creative teams will be, but the show is officially a go!
If you want to be the first to know updates about the production, visit the show’s official Broadway site and sign up for updates.
And lastly, for anyone looking to get to the movies this weekend, you’ve got your choice of what movie (or movies) you want to see.
Where the Crawdads Sing, one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club books, comes out in theaters today, as does The Black Phone, a horror/thriller film. The Man From Toronto also comes out on Netflix today, and the one I’m probably most excited for: Elvis, featuring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, is in theaters now.
See you next week for another edition of The Buzz!
