HAPPY FRIDAY!
If you haven’t seen the headlines yet, Spider-Man has been dominating the space this week as Brand New Day shattered box office history and dethroned Avengers: Endgame as the biggest North American box office debut of all time.
Furthermore, Marvel has been in the headlines with Sadie Sink’s role in the new Spider-Man film and casting rumors for the new X-Men live action reboot film. Some rumored cast members for the new project include Kit Connor and Adam Driver. Check out the graphic below to see everyone.
I’m not sure on the timeline for that film, but something that’s coming to Netflix very soon is Monsters: The Lizzie Borden Story on September 17th. I haven’t seen a trailer yet, but they have released some promo photos, which you can view here.
This was also a HUGE week for tv releases. The new season of Ted Lasso premiered on Apple TV and will drop one episode every Wednesday until the finale on October 7th.
Prime released a new series this week called Sterling Point. I watched it when it dropped and can confirm: it’s worth the watch! Think: nostalgic, island, family vibes. You’ll also probably recognize actors like Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Keen Ruffalo on the show.
Another new show premiered on FX/Hulu this week is called The Shards. The first two episodes are available now and they will air every Wednesday until the finale on September 9th. This show is a thriller that takes place in 1980s Los Angeles and follows a group of privileged high schoolers when a serial killer makes an appearance in the city.
Lastly, Netflix released the new season of My Life with the Walter Boys this week. The full season is available to watch now.
If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan, news dropped this week that there’s a Gilmore Girls documentary in the works at HBO Max.
If you’re looking for a movie rather than TV this weekend, the new movie One Night Only is in theaters today. I also saw that Six the musical is headed to theaters next Friday. It is a proshot of the West End production.
And finally, if you’re a reader like myself, you’ll be excited to hear that an adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s novel Deep End is in the works at Netflix. Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Alex Cooper are set to produce. I absolutely LOVE Ali Hazelwood, but this is probably my favorite novel of hers, so I’m excited for film and hope they can do the project justice!
