Nostalgia anyone?
Tribeca Film Festival started this week, and as always, the lineup is incredible. There’s so many films (and TV series!) premiering these next couple of weeks, including films from some of your favorites like Earth, Wind & Fire, Madonna, Sara Bareilles, and more. You can also catch the premieres of shows like Every Year After and the new season of Adults.
What stands out most to me is the new film Happy Hours which has its world premiere tomorrow! This is slated to be the first film of a trilogy, so fingers crossed the movie does well at the festival so we not only see a wide release of Happy Hours, but the next two films as well.
This project marks a reunion for Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson and it’s about two young loves who reunite. The film has led to much speculation about whether or not the two Dawson’s Creek stars are back together, especially considering how closely the story appears to align with their lives.
Speaking of Dawson’s Creek, Kerr Smith, who played the beloved character Jack McPhee, is releasing a book called I Don’t Want to Wait My Life on Dawson’s Creek. The book includes behind the scenes stories that fans have been asking for for decades and looks back on Smith’s time on the WB series and the relationships that were built. You can think of the book as the ‘ultimate yearbook for Capeside High’. Check out this article for more info. The book will hit shelves on November 10th. To be honest… to say I’m excited for this one would be an understatement!

If you’re looking for something this weekend, there is a new Prince song out called Stone, which you can listen to here. It is a track off of the upcoming Prince album Timeless, which is going to be released on August 28th. It’s a 10-track album that includes previously unreleased songs of Prince’s from throughout the entirety of his career. When the album is released, it will be released in multiple physical configurations, including a D2C-exclusive limited-edition Purple Marble Vinyl, standard black vinyl, and CD.
If you’re looking for something to watch, the new Masters of the Universe film starring Nicholas Galitzine is out today, as is the film Power Ballad starring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd.
I don’t have dates for these yet, but some things you can look forward to are the Netflix adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (based off of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel) which will be directed by Anna Kendrick, the Emily Henry adaptation Beach Read is in the works and has added Kristin Davis and Notaro to the cast, Robbie G.K. (Heated Rivalry) has signed on to star in an adaptation of MEATBALLS, a reimagining of the 1979 comedy, and Elle Kennedy’s novel Girl Abroad is getting an adaptation from the showrunner of Bridgerton.
Lastly, this upcoming week, you can look forward to the new series Every Year After (based off of Carley Fortune’s novel Every Summer After), which drops on Prime Video on June 10th and the final season of Sweet Magnolias, which drops on Netflix on June 11th.
Thanks for checking out The Buzz this week, brought to you by Dini’s tinis!
