Happy Friday! Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz, brought to you by Dini’s tinis!
This was a BIIIIG week for movies!
CinemaCon was this week in Las Vegas, giving us a preview of some pretty big movies on the way.
First and foremost, they screened the trailer for the new Avengers: Doomsday film for the first time. Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. were both in attendance and they actually screened the trailer twice because it got such a positive response. I haven’t been able to find the trailer online yet (I think it was a CinemaCon exclusive for now), but I’ll share it as soon as I do. It’s predicted to be a blockbuster with a star-studded cast.
CinemaCon also gave us a glimpse into the new Toy Story movie which is coming in June and the new Christmas Carol film starring Johnny Depp. They also confirmed that a new Top Gun movie is in the works with Tom Cruise is amongst the cast and there is a Snoop Dogg biopic coming that is slated to star Johnathan Daviss (Outer Banks) and begin production this summer in LA.
Tribeca Film Festival also announced its film schedule this week, including films from Sara Bareilles, Alicia Keys, Earth, Wind & Fire and more! The schedule looks amazing, check it out here.
The internet exploded this week after Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson were spotted on a red carpet together and their new film Happy Hours – a film about two past loves who reunite and rekindle their connection – is premiering at Tribeca Film Festival on June 6th. Happy Hours was written and directed by Katie Holmes and is supposed to be part of a trilogy, with this being the first movie in that series. Hopefully this film is well received so we’ll see Katie and Joshua back together for two more movies! The Pacey and Joey fan inside me is crazy excited for this one.
As for TV news, it was announced late last week that the sixth season of Darren Star’s show Emily in Paris is saying goodbye to Italy and hello to Greece and Monaco! The season is scheduled to film from May to September and will be released on Netflix in late 2026.
Speaking of Darren Star, his other beloved franchise Sex and the City is in the news this week. There is an online auction being held at the moment with clothing and props from the spin off series And Just Like That. If you’d like to see what’s up for grabs, click here.
Lastly, emotions have been running high for the book community this week.
Tons of bestselling authors, some of the biggest names in the business, are headed to New York City this weekend for Book Con! I will be there all weekend, hopefully with some exciting book news to share with you next week! Some authors in attendance include Rachel Reid, E. Lockhart, Jodi Picoult, Cassandra Clare, Veronica Roth, and tons, tons more.
Some romance fans were upset this week after hearing Patrick Schwarzenegger was cast in the upcoming adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel Beach Read. He will be playing the male main character alongside Phoebe Dynevor. Patrick is probably best known for his role on The White Lotus and people are not happy with Patrick’s casting. I understand where they’re coming from, Patrick definitely deviates from what I pictured his character Gus to look and be like as well, but he proved he has acting skills in The White Lotus (I say this because I like Patrick, but truly hated his character), so I’m open to seeing what he brings to the table.
Lastly, if you’re a Heated Rivalry fan, there’s a new book coming from Jacob Tierney, the series’ creator, called I’ll Believe in Anything The Making of Heated Rivalry Season 1. It is a compilation of annotated scripts from the first season of the show. The book will hit shelves on October 13th and is available for pre-order now!
See you back here next week for another edition of The Buzz!
