We’ve finally made it through what has felt like the longest month e.v.e.r. and I’m here to give you a quick update of what’s been going on in Hollywood! For an extended report, check out the Buzz podcast here!
As a little follow up from last week, I can confirm that the When Harry Met Sally reunion teaser was, in fact, for a Super Bowl commercial! Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal recreated the iconic diner scene in an ad for Hellmann’s mayonnaise and the ad also features Sydney Sweeney. Check it out below.
For another dose of nostalgia, Ryan Cabrera’s song On the Way Down celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and in honor of the anniversary, Ryan recruited some of his friends to re-record the song. Check it out!
Ryan invited NSYNC’s Joey Fatone, Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean, Hanson’s Taylor Hanson, Drake Bell, Walk the Moon’s Nicholas Petricca, and Hot Chelle Rae’s Nash Overstreet to work on the song with him and said that he initially tried making the song by himself, but he struggled to do so without losing the essence of the song and the reason why people loved it in the first place.
The Jonas Brothers are also stirring up the nostalgia this week with their announcement that they’re releasing a Christmas film on Disney+ later this year.
They made the announcement earlier this week in a Love, Actually style-inspired moment, detailing the news using cue cards like Andrew Lincoln did when he confessed his love to Kiera Knightley in the film.
Chris Evans (unfortunately) announced this week that he is ‘happily retired’ from the MCU following rumors that he was returning. I’m hoping that this is his way of surprising fans later on when he does actually return for a cameo here or there, but you never quite know with Chris Evans! For the time being, I’m going to keep my hopes up.
In terms of upcoming TV releases, Euphoria is **officially** coming back as filming picked up yesterday with all of the actors making a return for season 3!
A trailer for one of Max’s other most popular series – The White Lotus – was released this week just ahead of its February 16th premiere.
Netflix, again, is dominating headlines with so many upcoming releases, starting with You. We got another sneak peek into the final season of You which you can check out below. That series will be dropping ALL 10 episodes of the final season on Netflix on April 24th.
There’s also a rumor going around that the final season of Stranger Things could be broken up into two parts later this year when it’s released. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true, but for the fans that love to binge watch tv shows, I hope that it is all released in one part.
One of the Duffer Brothers spoke with the Hollywood Reporter this week and said that this final season took a full year to film and that at the end of filming, they had over 650 hours of footage! He said this is the ‘biggest and most ambitious season yet’. Check out this article for more – it’s a really great read for fans of the show!
Netflix will also be home to the third season of Squid Game on June 27th and the third season of Ginny and Georgia on June 5th.
For more news on what’s to come from Netflix, check out the Netflix Sizzle Reel, which will also give you a quick sneak peak of the second season of Wednesday.
As for movies, Scream VII continues adding cast members to the upcoming film with Mark Consuelos making the list this week. His role, as well as the story, are both still under wraps.
What’s not under wraps though is that Jon M. Chu, the man behind films like Wicked, Crazy Rich Asians, and In the Heights, is going to be directing an adaptation of Oh, the Places You’ll Go. It won’t be released until March 17, 2028, but given his past work, I think it will be well worth the wait!
Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrel have been promoting their new film You’re Cordially Invited which dropped on Prime yesterday. Check out the trailer below.
While doing promo for the film, Reese also gave an update on the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series Elle. She said that they are currently going through the casting process and that they officially start in March!
As for music, the GRAMMYs are this weekend and Cynthia Erivo will be performing. There’s also a rumor going around that Harry Styles is releasing a new album and that he will be going on a larger scale tour to promote this album. There is speculation as well that Harry will be reuniting with his fellow bandmates from One Direction for a reunion of sorts at the Brit Awards, a show that was heavily supported by their late bandmate Liam Payne.
Lastly, to end on a little fun note, Ringo Starr said this week that he’s never had pizza!
That’s all for now folks, see you back here next week!
