New information was released about a plane recently found at the bottom of a lake that appears to have solved the mystery of when it crashed. Seafloor Systems was testing its underwater survey equipment at Folsom Lake in California last week when it spotted what appeared to be a small aircraft 160 feet underwater. When the plane was found, it was believed it could be the aircraft that crashed on New Year's Day in 1965. The bodies of three people who were on board the aircraft were never recovered.Dive team sergeants from California sheriff's offices went back out with Seafloor Systems technicians Tuesday to get more images of the plane. Authorities determined the aircraft found underwater last week was actually from a 1986 case where a plane went down. No fatalities were reported in the 1986 case. "For now, the plane will remain at the bottom of the lake," the local sheriff's office said in an update. "The relatives of the deceased from the 1965 plane crash do not wish for others to search for the plane or remains. They would like the final resting place for their family to remain at the bottom of Folsom Lake."
