Veteran Stand Down returns to Marina
The Veterans Stand Down event, which helps homeless veterans find resources to get them off the streets, is returning after the event had to cancel the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Stand Down event provides food and shelter to veterans in need as well as much-needed legal, medical and dental services. The event will take place June 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Goodwill site at 239 10th St. in Marina. In the past, the event has been a three-day affair but the pandemic has limited the event to just one day. The plan is to host a three-day event in 2022. “We recognize homeless veterans need our help now. We can’t wait,” says Kurt Schake, VTC’s executive director. “That’s what we do.”
