Report of armed robbery leads to a 15-year-old being arrested
A report of an armed robbery at a Salinas apartment complex led to the arrest of a 15-year-old. According to the Salinas Police Department, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 900 block of Heather Circle Saturday at 4:22 p.m. During the investigation, it was found the incident happened near a playground in the apartment complex. Police say the two juveniles accused of the robbery approached the victim. The victim was held by one of the accused robbers and hit by the second one. A cell phone was taken from the victim. When on the scene, officers were directed to the two suspects who were still in the area of the apartment complex. After a pursuit, one of the suspects, the 15-year-old, was taken into custody. The other suspect is still at large. Officers were told the suspect that got away had tossed a weapon as he tried to leave the area. The discarded weapon turned out to be a replica firearm. The 15-year-old who they caught was transported to juvenile hall and is facing robbery charges among others. An investigation is still underway.
