Rubi Melendez recently turned 5 years old and spent her birthday fighting T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, said Zara Hassan, a community affairs officer on ASB at Hollister High School.
Rubi is currently at Stanford Children’s Lucile Packard, receiving treatment.
"She will undergo chemotherapy treatment for the next two-and-a-half years," Hassan said.
Hassan said that the school picks a beneficiary for a fundraiser every year. This year, they will host "Run for Rubi," a 5K run and walk and a mile fun run to help raise funds for Rubi.
The fundraising goal is $25,000 for Rubi and her family to cover any expenses.
You can sign up for the event, HERE. It is $30 to enter the 5K run and 25 to enter the mile fun run. Both runs will be held on May 11 starting at 8:30 a.m.
