Police in New Hampshire said they think they have cracked the case of a rash of car break-ins over the last few weeks after a four-legged suspect was finally caught on camera.Police said a black bear was caught on a home security camera breaking into a car. They believe several reports of car break-ins can be blamed on the animal."The bear has been causing some damage," Chief Kenneth Miller said. "It damaged the bumper on one vehicle, the truck bed cover on another and the front seat interior of another."Police believe the bear is hungry and looking for its next meal. Fish and Game Department officials have been notified, and police said it's a good reminder for people to be extra careful with food this time of year."We are asking residents to remove food from vehicles," Miller said. "Do not leave trash outside. Don't leave trash inside trunks or truck beds. Be aware of bird feeders or anything like that, anything that will attract bears."The bear has not been spotted making any trouble besides the break-ins, but New Hampshire Fish and Game has been notified. They said it's not unusual to see bears this time of year."If you do have any issues, you want to call the police department right away, stay away from any bear in your yard or your vehicle," Miller said. Wildlife experts said if you come face-to-face with a bear, don't panic, don't run and make plenty of noise. They said that is usually enough to scare them away.
