Monterey Outdoor Market Opens for the first time since the pandemic
Life is beginning to feel more and more normal in Monterey.
Saturday, the Outdoor Market at Custom House Plaza was held for the very first time since the pandemic started.
We spoke to many visitors at the market and normalcy was a common feeling.
Monterey Market visitor, Chris Prohaska says “it's better for both sides, the sellers and the buyers, knowing they don't have that paranoia like they had before.”
Some people were even feeling safe enough to drop their masks. A huge sign of getting back to normal.
From jewelry and woodworking to jerky and kettle corn, the Monterey Outdoor Market provided a great experience for locals and tourists.
A great option for families but also a great opportunity for small businesses.
“I mean, for small businesses like us who don't have a permanent location where we have to be out and rely on these kind of events, it's nice to see, even though it's a little rainy, people are still coming out,” says local business owner, Leah Dombrowski.
Visitors also tell us it more than just about dropping the masks or places reopening. They enjoyed just being able to be around people and feeling comfortable.
