Monterey County Pops! returns with live music on July 4th

Monterey County Pops! (MCP!) is returning with live music with a big debut event on July Fourth at Devendorf Park, Carmel.
Their theme for the day is "Celebration" and their program will include a new special arrangement of the song 'Celebration' by Kool & the Gang.
Former Mayor of Carmel Ken White, will welcome the public to the organization’s first live, in-person, 90-minute concert of 2021 at 2 p.m.
Before the main show, there will be an open rehearsal and soundcheck from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The 38-member orchestra will be conducted and hosted by MCP! music director Dr. Carl Christensen.
The concert will include blues, jazz, rock, and Latin music. Marching music will also be featured. The program will conclude with the "1812 Overture Finale," and John Philip Sousa’s "Stars and Stripes Forever."
The concert will be conducted in accordance with state and county health regulations.
If you attend it is recommended you dress for an outdoor event and to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.
