Mexico Public Safety Responds To Two Separate Utility Related Incidents On Wednesday

Mexico Public Safety says they responded to a couple of utility related incidents yesterday (Wednesday).

The first was around 8:13 am in the area of Missouri Highway 15 (North Western Street) and Robinson in reference to a natural gas leak.

Responding personnel found that a construction crew hit a gas main, causing a significant leak.

Highway 15 was closed in that area until Ameren could stop the leak around 9:20am.

The second incident happened just before 1pm at West Plaza.

Responding personnel found that a tractor-trailer was behind the buildings, delivering items to a business, when it struck a low hanging electric line causing some arcing.

The driver stopped the vehicle and moved to safety.

Ameren responded and removed the line from the tractor-trailer.

There were no injuries from the incidents.
