Memorial Day on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey
Business was booming at the Fisherman's Wharf on Memorial Day.
Domenico's on the Wharf co-owner Sam Macurio said it's great but also challenging for businesses that are still short-staffed and can only operate on a certain capacity.
"We're doing a lot of reservations, turning a lot of people away which is hard to do," said Macurio.
But it definitely beats last year.
"It's nice to see everybody out again. Last year at this time we were doing takeout. That's it. We have a little clam chowder booth, so look at the difference," said Macurio.
Whether it's to beat the heat or just to visit, people from all around the country were in town.
Kylie Cronin, a tourist from Boston, Massachusetts, said, "We've never really been to California before so we're loving it. We got to see the sea lions be out and about and walk around. Yeah, definitely a big change this year, it's nice to see people out and about again."
People have been itching for a normal holiday, they say that's exactly what they got: a happy Memorial Day and a sense of normalcy.
