After a year on the sidelines, local baseball players Ryan Jensen and Carter Aldrete are returning to play. The 2020 Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new season opens on Tuesday, May 4.Jensen will play for the Chicago Cubs High-A affiliate, the South Bend Cubs. The starting pitcher was a first-round draft pick in 2019. Jensen graduated from Salinas High School and attended Fresno State. Monterey High School graduate Carter Aldrete plays in the San Francisco Giants organization. Aldrete will play for the team's High-A affiliate in Eugene, Oregon. Aldrete attended Arizona State University and was selected in the 15th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
