'It felt like a little punch to my leg': Less than a week after shark bite, teen ready to surf again
Blanchett's, an eighth grader that serves at North Beach about six times per week after around three hours in the water. Last monday, he was bitten by a shark as he jumped off a wave. I just felt like a punch to my, like my legs and I immediately hopped on my board after seeing the blood and I power to ensure the injuries he received forced him to stay in the hospital for two days. Somehow. Parker says it was no big deal. There's not much to it, like we're kind of in their territory and it's just kind of like getting struck by lightning. You have such a little possibility. But to his mother, it was a big deal. He said, hey mom and you can pick me up. I got bit by a shark and I'm going to need a couple of stitches. I got down here and it was more than a couple of stitches. Parker was just So cool and calm and collected on the phone. Lifeguards report there's increased shock activity here at North Beach between April and June because it's breathing and birthing season. We see any where between five ft and 20 ft tigers, hammers, reef sharks, all kinds. Uh huh. Two lifeguards watch over the area on weekdays. If and when there's a shark sighting, they closed the beach until no activities observed for 45 minutes. Despite all the reported sightings, supervisor Clark Abby says he's never heard of a shark attack at that beach pass in and they pass out. Ah To us. It wasn't a question if it was a question on when it happens in his words, Blanchette says the injuries will leave a six car that he says will look epic and it does not change his desire to be a big wave surfer in the future.
