A NEW SPORT TO DROP AT THE SUMMER GESAM SKATEBOARDING IS THE LATEST ACTION SPORT TO HIT THE OLYMPICS LINEUP. YEAH, AND IT’S KCRA 3’S DEISER FITZPATRICK REPORTS. IT’S ANOTHER WAY TO ATTRACT YOUNGER FANS AND THE STARS OF SKATEBOARDING ARE READY. A LOT OF OLYMPIC HOPEFULS SAW DRMSEA GO ON PAUSE WHEN THE PANDEMIC SHUT DOWN THE WORLD. IT’S NOT ONE OF THEM. NO, THAT’S LIKE THAT'’ THE CRAZIEST THING BECAUSE I’M SURE FOR A LOT OF OTHER. IT’S TRUE AFTER LIKE BEING A GYM TO TRAIN FOR THE OLYMPICS OR FOR WHATEVER SPORT THEY DO LIKE. THE PANDEMIC COMPLETELY MESSED THAT UP FROM LIKE OUR TRAINING IS GOING TO THE SKATEPARK OR WHEREVER BNGEI ON A SKATEBOARD PERIOD SO IT’S SUCH A LOOSE LIKE ACTIVITY WHERE WE LIKE THERE’S NOT MUCH DISCIPLINE. SO FORHE T PANDEMIC IT WAS LIKE DIDN’T REALLY AFFECT ANYTHING LIKE WE STILL CAN SOCLLIAY DISTANCE AND SKATE FORTUNATELY. HE’D MOVED TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FROM PENNSYLVANIA RIGHT BEFORE QUARANTINE. I DON’T HAVE TO DLEA WITH WEATHER. IT’S JUST SUNNY HERE FOR THE MOST PART BUT YEAH, I LIKE THAT. I CAN JUST SKATE YEAR ROUND SO IT’S BEEN REALLY GOOD FOR MY SKATING MARIO COMPETES IN STREET SKATING WHERE ATHLETES PERFORM TRICKS IN AN URBAN PLAYGROUND TURNING ARCHITECTURE INTO MOVING ART WHOSE CAMPUS TAKES SHAPE WHEREVER INSPIRATION STRIKES. KIND OF TALK ABOUT IT AND LIKE YOU TAKE A PHOTO OF IT AND THEN IF IT IS A GOOD SPOT AND NO ONE KNOWS ABO IUTT. YOU DON’T TELL ANYONE EXCEPT FOR LIKE YOUR FILM OR YOU GO SKATE IT FIRST. AND THEN IF SOME OF YOUR FRIENDS WHEN IT COMES SKATE IT MAYBE YOU LET HIM KNOW WHERE IT’S AT, BUT PEOPLE ARE LIKE SUPER SECRETIVE ABOUT IT. IT’S NOT A SECRET. THE SKATEBOARDERSID DN’T EXACTLY FLIP WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED AT THEIR SPORT WOULBED IN THE OVEN LIKE OTHER SPORTS THE OLYMPICS ISN’T THE PINNAECL OF COMPETITION OR EVEN MONEY FOR A LOT OF SKATERS, BUT THAT IS CHANGING. I’LL BE HONEST. I WASN’T IT WASN’T ON MY RADAR. IT DEFINITELY WASN’T LIKE A THING OLYMPIC SPONSORS LIKE GOD MILK ARE LOVING SHARING THE SPIRIT WITH THE GAMES. STARS IT’S INSANE. IT’S CRAZY THAT IAN C MONETIZE SOMETHING THAT I’M SO PASSIONATE ABOUT THAT. I FELL IN LOVE WITH WHEN I WAS FOUR YEARS OLD AND MAYBE EVEN GO TO THE OLYMPICS ON IT AND MAYBE GO TO THE OLYMPICS. WOW, SKATEBOARDING CATCHING THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT THIS SUMMER IN TOKYO ON THE ROAD TO TOKYO. I’M DEIRDRE FITZPATRICK. He spent quarantine skating and falling in love with his new hometown. "I don't have to deal with weather — sunny here for the most part. I like that it's been good for my skating," said McCoy. McCoy is a street skater and he can thank his big brother for his Olympic dreams.

His brother handed him a skateboard at the age of 4 and the rest is history.

McCoy moved to Los Angeles from Pennsylvania right before the pandemic. He spent quarantine skating and falling in love with his new hometown.

"I don't have to deal with weather — sunny here for the most part. I like that it's been good for my skating," said McCoy.
