That breaking news out of Watsonville santa Cruz County Sheriff's office has closed a portion of Highway 1 29 between Blackburn Street and Lakeview Road as they look for one person involved in an overnight shooting. Uh, this is what we know. So steps away from highway 1 29 which is currently closed santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office investigating that overnight shooting one person injured but is expected to be okay. We're told they are looking for one person involved in that shooting. This is an active crime scene. You are asked to avoid that area. Sheriff's office says this is unrelated to another shooting that happened nearby last night near Riverside Road and Murphy Road just outside of Watsonville. Deputies say one person shot taken to the hospital. The shooting not connected to the shooting that currently has 1 29 and Lakeview and Blackburn closed and getting a check of that back up. Now with Jacqueline, Yes. And due to that closure, Lauren, we're seeing the big backup develop along Eastlake Avenue as you're approaching college. If you are heading eastbound, also along portions of SAn WAn Road and Hall or seeing a big slowdown there. So keep that in mind. If you typically travel 1 29 you're gonna want to avoid that this morning and allow plenty of extra time.

Thursday morning the Watsonville Police Department reported on Twitter that Highway 129 was shut down due to Sheriff's Office activity. According to the tweet, the highway was closed between Lakeview Road and Blackburn Street. They were also asking people to avoid the levee walking trail on Bridge Street between Blackburn and Hushbeck Avenue. The Sheriff's Office reported that deputies were investigating an overnight shooting where one person was injured. "This is an active crime scene and we are asking you to avoid the area," the Sheriff's Office Facebook post said. One person was injured in the shooting. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office also reported that Thursday's investigation is not related to the Wednesday shooting in the same area.
