What's up guys? We're out here in the South Bay on a real life treasure hunt. Somewhere here in the beautiful santa Cruz Mountains is a box containing a $1000 prize. I have $1000 cash right here and I'm hiding it somewhere in this forest. We were just thinking what's a great way to get people together and bring people to the outdoors or favorite places And Brendan. I always love a good treasure hunt. It's like what gets you more excited than just like actually going out in the woods with the purpose to find something cool. What we're gonna do is post clues on our instagram at the official treasure hunt. So follow us there and you'll get clues sort of leading you in the general area of where the box is hidden so you can get closer and closer fall over weekly updates. But it's publicly accessible. It's easy to access. It's not in any dangerous spot, anybody can find it. I don't know. I got no ideas. now. $1000 isn't exactly chump change but for these bay area natives. Getting people outdoors is priceless after covid kind of relax and people were starting to get outdoors again. We wanted to do something to get families outdoors, get them exploring these beautiful parks. You saw a deer? But did you see a box full of treasure that I didn't see? It's a place like this where people may get out, do a quick walk and not go and mess things up. Yeah, I think it's a good idea. We actually were saying that the actual treasure is the mountains and the ability to come out here and just explore actual value is just here already. I think that would be a nice little bonus though. Yes it would be great. 1000 bucks would be great. The weather is fantastic at summertime. It's pretty much perfect time for a treasure hunt. I think we're going to post our first clue on thursday. You'll be able to come out here and look for the treasure is out there. You can find it and be $1000 richer. Easy. Well, no luck for me today, but hopefully you have some better luck when you come out here and look for that $1,000. The first clue for the mysterious box containing $1,000 in was posted to Instagram on Thursday. Earlier this week an account called "The Official Treasure Hunt" popped up on Instagram, promising to post clues of where the money is hidden. Initially, the only information that was released was that the prize was located on public land somewhere in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thursday at 11 a.m. the first clue was posted. "A place for a Queen, Can you smell what he's cooking?" read the posts with dashed lines for a two-word answer, six letters and four letters, respectively. One thousand dollars isn't exactly chump change, but for these Bay Area natives, getting people outdoors is priceless."After COVID kind of relaxed and people were starting to get outdoors again, we wanted to do something to get families outdoors and get them exploring these beautiful parks," Ruh said.NBC Bay Area contributed to this report.
