A convicted murderer who had been on the run since fleeing a vehicle pursuit in Callaway County on Saturday was arrested by Mexico Public Safety last (Tuesday) night in the Walmart parking lot.
According to Mexico Public Safety they received an anonymous tip that 58 year old Stephen J. Thorpe was in a vehicle at the Walmart parking lot at 4820 South Clark around 9:09 last night.
When officers arrived they say they found Thorpe hiding in the back of a vehicle under blankets.
He was arrested without incident and taken to the Audrain County Jail.
He does have a past murder conviction, however was on supervised parole and is currently wanted in reference to a Randolph County misdemeanor warrant for resisting arrest.
The Missouri Highway Patrol assisted Mexico Public Safety officers in making the arrest.
