in a time when many face food insecurity. This next community leader found a way to help Siochana was inspired by an idea. She saw on social media. I was on twitter one day and I just saw like community fridges like in different parts of the world, state cities, there were none near her. So she surveyed Orlando twitter about starting one soon. The idea was a reality. The fridge is owned by the community and not one soul person open to the public 24 7. Anyone can drop off food or donations and those experiencing food insecurity can get a free meal. All food must be packaged and pre sealed and there is no raw meat or seafood to keep things as safe as possible. I love meeting people that are switched on and passionate about what they're doing. The owner of a local supermarket was eager to help the initiative and agreed to host the fridge. To me it's just the fulfillment of Easton's mission which is to give a place for home grown ideas and thought leaders to thrive and propagate ideas that are good for the community. Don't bother with no drama. Siochana collaborated with local artists to bring her vision to life. All the colors just kind of represent like everybody's different, We all come from different backgrounds but we're all kind of the same. So that's why everybody has the same face. At the end when we started painting the fridge is the week I quit my job. I was so happy and so positive just working on something that was positive for the community. I didn't want to do anything else. I wanted to put my whole energy into it. The response has been wild to be honest. I didn't really think like they would pick up so much like interest so quickly the fridge has overflowed with so much food, they use the excess to create goody bags which get handed out to those who might not be able to get to the location. There's so few people that actually do what they say they're going to do. I'm just so proud of her, I'm so proud of her now that there's a second fridge. This pandemic project is already expanding to just help out the community. Just be a part of the solution and not the problem. I love this bridge so much.
