Sashauana McKain used her downtime during the pandemic to give back to her community. She saw the idea for a community fridge online and asked her own Twitter feed if an Orlando version would be beneficial. Quickly, the idea became a reality.
"The fridge is owned by the community and not one sole person," said Vonika Colas, a local artist who helped make the fridge unique.
Open to the public 24/7, anyone can drop off food donations and those experiencing food insecurity can get a free meal. All food is pre-packaged and there is no raw meat and seafood, to be as safe as possible.
