Children create lemonade stand to help 7-year-old friend fighting leukemia
A group of Oklahoma children are rallying around their 7-year-old friend, who has leukemia, to help raise money for medical bills. They created a lemonade stand in the Surrey Hills neighborhood of Oklahoma City and have already raised thousands of dollars. They said they just wanted their friend, Will Hughes, to feel better. "No matter what, I just have to keep fighting," Will said. "He's the strongest one in the entire family. He's carried us all," Billy Hughes, Will's dad, said.Will's parents told sister station KOCO that he's called "Will the Warrior" for how much strength he shows every single day."It just makes you speechless. I'm in awe," Hughes said.They said one of the good things is that people rally around him to show their support. "I want to help Will with cancer," Charlotte Hill said.Charlotte cheers with Will's sister and when she heard about his cancer, she just had to do something.“I wanted to make him feel better," she said.People came from all over to help Will. One person showed up at the lemonade stand and donated $1,000.Because of all the love and support shown to him, Will is reminded just how strong he is.“I'm going to kick cancer's butt," Will said.
