California officials revealed on Thursday the winners of travel packages for "dream vacation" destinations as part of the state's latest incentive to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations.
Done in partnership with Visit California, the governor's office said the latest incentive is part of the "Vax for the Win" program that includes cash prizes for Californians who get inoculated with one of the coronavirus vaccines.
Dr. Tomás Aragón, the state's public health director, and other officials announced the winners on the California Department of Public Health Facebook page.
The Dream Vacations program comprises six vacation packages for various destinations in Southern California as well as San Francisco. Californians selected in Thursday's drawing will also receive $2,000 to offset travel expenses.
To be eligible, you must be 18 years old or older and be at least partially vaccinated.
Here's who won the vacation packages.
- A resident of San Mateo county won the Discover the Best of Anaheim package for four
- An Alameda County resident won the Greater Palm Springs Luxury package for two
- A Contra Costa County resident won the Premium Los Angeles Experience for four
- A San Francisco County resident won the San Diego Beach Dream Vacation for four

Similar to the Vax for the Win cash prize drawings, winners of the vacation packages will be randomly selected from the pool of eligible Californians. Winners will have to complete their vaccinations in order to claim their vacation package.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has said that various "hospitality partners" are helping offset the cost of the packages.
