Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Fort Hunter Liggett open to families
The Fort Hunter Liggett Youth Fishing Derby is set to happen Saturday, April 24, as California continues to decline in COVID-19 cases. Rain or shine, the 18th annual Youth Fishing Derby is welcoming families out to the Del Venturi Reservoir. The event is open to everyone 15 years and younger and entrants will not need a fishing permit.Registration is required and will begin the morning of the event at 6:30 a.m. The event ends at noon and will then the reservoir will be opened to everyone with a fishing permit to fish.The reservoir will be stocked with about 1,700 pounds of rainbow trout. Prizes will be given out for 1st, 2ndand 3rd placed to whoever catches the biggest fish.To remain safe, COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Be ready for a temperature check when entering and if cleared, a wristband will be given to you.
