A FEW MONTHS AGO -- POLICE SAY ROBERT DE NISON WAS STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY 17 .. WHEN A MAN CAME UP AND ASKED HIM TO KEEP A YOUNG CHI. LD DENISON SAYS HE TOLD HIM CHEOULDNT DO THAT .. BUT HE COULD GIVE HIM THE NUMBER TO CALL PORT WENTWORTH POLICE. ACCORDING TO DENISON -- THE MAN SAID HEOU CLDN'T TALK TO OFFICERS .. BECAUSE THEY WERE SURROUNDING HIS GIRLFRIEND'S HOUSE. DENISON SAYS HE SAW THAT AS A RED FLAG -- AND CALLED POLICE HIMSEL F. "THE GUY ENDED UP GOING AROUND THE CURVE FROM US AND HID. WHILE HE WAS HIDING, HE PUT A BALLISTIC VEST ON M HI AND THE CHILD .. AND WHEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT GOT TO HIM .. HE HAD SEVERAL AR15S - AND SEVERAL PISTOLS AND WAS PLANNING ON GOING BACK TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVING A SHOOTOUT WITH THEM." A man who helped stop a human trafficker in Georgia was recognized for his heroic actions on Friday.

A man who helped stop a human trafficker in Georgia was recognized for his heroic actions on Friday.Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and state First Lady Marty Kemp awarded Robert Denison with a commendation. Marty Kemp told Denison, "You're a prime example of stepping up to save lives."A few months ago, Denison says he was stopped on the side of Highway 17 when a man came up to him and asked him to keep a young child for a few minutes.Denison said he told the man he couldn't do that but could give him the number to call Port Wentworth police.Denison said the man claimed he couldn't talk to officers because they were surrounding his girlfriend's house. Denison said he saw that as a red flag.Denison added, "A kid's eyes don't lie. That kid was looking at me, and you could see the fear in his eyes."Denison ended up getting the man's tag number and called the Port Wentworth Police Department. He told them what he thought was happening."The guy ended up going around the curve from us and hiding. While he was around the curve, he put a ballistic vest on him and the child, and when the police department got to him, he had several AR-15's and several pistols and was planning on going back to the police department and having a shootout with them," Denison said.Denison said he was able to recognize what was happening thanks to Georgia's Human Trafficking Awareness Training.

A few months ago, Denison says he was stopped on the side of Highway 17 when a man came up to him and asked him to keep a young child for a few minutes.

Denison said he told the man he couldn't do that but could give him the number to call Port Wentworth police.

Denison said the man claimed he couldn't talk to officers because they were surrounding his girlfriend's house. Denison said he saw that as a red flag.

Denison added, "A kid's eyes don't lie. That kid was looking at me, and you could see the fear in his eyes."

Denison ended up getting the man's tag number and called the Port Wentworth Police Department. He told them what he thought was happening.

"The guy ended up going around the curve from us and hiding. While he was around the curve, he put a ballistic vest on him and the child, and when the police department got to him, he had several AR-15's and several pistols and was planning on going back to the police department and having a shootout with them," Denison said.

Denison said he was able to recognize what was happening thanks to Georgia's Human Trafficking Awareness Training.
