uh, new at six tonight for the last week a giant bread ball has been getting a lot of attention around santa Cruz County. It's been spotted on the santa Cruz Wharf along pacific avenue, the 15 ft diameter, £250 work of art Has made appearances on three continents, Europe Asia and North America. Before coming to Santa Cruz County. Today was in Watsonville Action News eight reporter Phil Gomez joins us live from downtown santa Cruz to tell us why it's here. Bill Aaron. It's to celebrate the 25th anniversary. The museum of art in his museum, Art hits of history in santa Cruz County and the local design is similar to what the art exhibit has on it. And so it only makes sense to invite the project here to santa Cruz County. I know it's interesting celebrating our 25th anniversary, this choice for whatever you want to make of it. Some people just didn't know what to make of it as they drove or walked by, but curiosity got the best of them. I saw traffic and I was like, what's going on over there? I turn I see a bigger advice. I was like, what the, not just any ball, it's 15 ft in diameter and weighs £250. And on this day scrunched into the architecture of Gabriel colleges, downtown Watsonville center. I think it's great. It came here and um, we're kind of left out sometimes down here. So this is wonderful. Especially with the farmers market across the street. Artist Kurt Persky spent the winter scoping locations where his red ball would fit in or rather squeeze in. We were really interested in being able to spread out and go to some places may be unexpected. Like Watsonville Children were attracted to it whether posing for keepsakes or just running around it for fun and called it as they saw it. I like the red, the shade, the red shade of it. I think it's a nice red color. The idea behind purse keys. Red ball Project is to capture a moment because each day is totally unique. It'll never happen again. The project will never be at this site again. It will never be in santa cruz again. So if you miss the red ball in Watsonville today, you can catch it here at the mall on Front Street tomorrow as well as cowell's Beach on sunday and it's there from 11 to 6 p.m. And then it rolls off to France in santa cruz Feel Gomez KSTW Action Museum.
