A 200-year-old bottle of wine intended for French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte has recently sold at auction for $30,000, according to the Cape Fire and Rare Wine Auction.
The company says the bottle of Grand Constance 1821 is one of what may be just 12 remaining in the world.
The sweet red wine is reportedly still drinkable, and that it was opened but re-corked in 2019 to ensure that its quality remained intact.
The head of the auction called it "arguably one of the most precious, scarce and coveted wines in the world."
A client with the famed UK auction house Christie's was the winning bidder, according to reports.
Napoleon died 200 years ago earlier this month.
