A child who was accidentally shot by his baby sister has died.Canton's police chief said the 9-year-old boy died in the hospital Thursday, one day after the shooting. Canton Public Schools Superintendent Gary Hannah confirmed that Ashton Walden was a second grader at Reuben B. Myers Canton School of Arts & Sciences.Police said the children's mother and her boyfriend left Ashton, his 10-year-old brother and their 2-year-old sister inside the car while they visited a friend. Police said the sister found a gun under the seat and accidentally shot her brother in the head.Ashton later died.It is unclear how long the children were left inside the car while the mother and her boyfriend were inside the home.Police said the mother, who has not been identified, faces neglect charges. Chief Otha Brown said the case will be presented to the Madison County District Attorney and more charges could be filed. The two other children are currently being cared for by their grandmother.
