Hi listeners! It’s been a little bit since I’ve shared The Buzz with you, so I’m excited to be back!
If you’re looking for something new to get you into the Christmas spirit this weekend, Netflix has something special in store for you!
On Sunday, Netflix is dropping WHAM!: Last Christmas Unwrapped, a documentary that chronicles the rise of Wham!’s hit song Last Christmas. The documentary features new interviews with Andrew Ridgeley and archival footage of George Michael, so if you love that song and love Wham!, check it out on Sunday!
If you use Hulu rather than Netflix, People also put together a list of Christmas movies you can stream this weekend.
As for other music news, it looks like there are four Beatles films in the works, each one a separate biopic that will focus on each individual member of the band. Each film is looking like it will focus on the individual member but weave together the member’s individual stories to tell the story of the group’s history.
Sam Mendes is set to direct all four films and Paul Mescal is rumored to play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson to play John, Joseph Quinn to play George, and Barry Keoghan to play Ringo.
Word also came out this week that someone found 12 unreleased Michael Jackson tracks on tapes in a storage unit in Van Nuys. For the most part, all of the songs are unreleased, only a couple have been teased before.
If this excites you (me too!), it will probably be awhile before you hear these songs, if you ever do. The individual who found the tapes reached out to the Jackson estate and they did not claim ownership over these songs, however, they let him know that neither he nor anyone who might purchase the tapes owns the copyright on the recordings, the estate does. In short, the tapes cannot be released to the public right now.
I personally believe though there will come a time where these tracks will be released. Imagine hearing new tracks from the late King of Pop? I don’t think the estate will be able to pass that up.
Another musical icon was in the news this week and that is Sir Elton John! He was named Time’s Icon of the Year and you can read all about that here.
Lastly for music, James Taylor announced a North American Tour for 2025 – check out those dates here. Tickets are on sale now!
In terms of movies, it looks like Chris Evans is going to be returning to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be playing Steve Rogers OR Johnny Storm. His character’s name has been mentioned by the name of Nomad. Marvel has yet to confirm or deny this.
And last up for this week is TV. Reboots of both Friday Night Lights and Prison Break have been ordered!
