Firefighters spend 9 hours rescuing man stuck in Georgia storm drain
Rescue crews spent nine hours trying to free a man who became stuck inside a clogged storm train. It happened Tuesday in Catoosa County, Georgia. A motorist called 911 after hearing a man calling for help from inside a storm drain. Firefighters found the man trapped inside a 24-inch drainpipe underneath Georgie highway 2. The drain was about 50% clogged with heavy, rocky, clay-like debris, officials said. Hand tools and a vacuum truck were used to remove the material. The 22-year-old man in the drain was conscious and communicating with firefighters during the rescue. He had been reported missing by family members earlier in the day. It’s believed he had been trapped since the day before when he entered the storm drain several hundred feet away and became trapped. It’s not known why the man entered the drain. The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.
