Could Frankie Valli be officially retired? Back in May, Valli cancelled the remainder of his shows for 2026 to focus on his health, but he appeared optimistic that he would be healthy and seeing fans again soon. Some videos were released this week though where he was unable to walk or stand without assistance, concerning fans. This happened around the same time as Valli’s brother made a post that said his brother has been performing for 6 decades, “he will retire now”.
I haven’t seen any confirmation if this is true or not, but given Valli’s age and the increasing amount of shows he had to cancel leading up to ultimately taking the rest of the year off, I wouldn’t be surprised if he really has chosen to retire.
If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, the new series Lanterns will be premiering on HBO/HBO Max on Sunday. The show will air once a week until its finale on October 4th. It stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, with confirmed appearances by Nathan Fillion and Kelly Macdonald. The new show is a live-action superhero detective series.
The musical Six is also in theaters beginning today, a filmed version of the West End production. The show is about the six wives of Henry VIII. Another film in theaters this weekend is Nimrods, a story inspired by the iconic band Green Day.
As for upcoming TV series, Heated Rivalry has begun filming and they’ve dropped a handful of new casting announcements including Charlie Gillespie, Justice Smith, Emily Hampshire, and more! Off Campus has also been in production and announced yesterday that they’ve cast Shay Rudolph as Summer DiLaurentis.
If you’re more of a sitcom fan, there’s a new series coming from the creators of Ghosts called Eternally Yours, which you can get a first look at here.
Colleen Hoover fans were excited this week to see the trailer for Verity, which comes out on October 2nd. You can check out the trailer here. Fans were also excited for the upcoming Paramount film Boys for Life, which announced several ensemble cast members including Alex Wolff and Will Angus. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 9th, 2027.
Lastly, Obama is partnering with Audible for a new podcast called A Great Book, which will premiere on September 24th.
