HAPPY FRIDAY and welcome back to another edition of The Buzz, brought to you by Dini’s tinis!
Temps look high this weekend, but it also looks like there’s a good amount of rain in the forecast, so you’re in luck – there’s no shortage of content to watch this weekend while you’re trying to stay out of the rain.
The Odyssey is finally in theaters TODAY! If the star-studded cast isn’t a selling point for you, then maybe the fact that I’ve seen nothing but glowing reviews for the film will! Tickets are selling fast, especially if you’re looking to see it in IMAX, so if you’re wanting to go this weekend, I’d suggest buying tickets ASAP!
Epics aren’t your thing? The Hawk is now streaming on Netflix which stars Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Katelyn Tarver, and more! The film Heartstopper Forever is also streaming now on Netflix. If you’re looking for something more, check out this list.
And let’s not forget, the World Cup final is on Sunday! The game will be airing on Fox at 3pm.
Here are some things you can look forward to:
- Willie Nelson is publishing another book! This one is called The Last Leaf and will be hitting shelves November 10th. It is available for preorder now. The book looks at Nelson’s career and artistic journey over the last decade and focuses on his current mindset and the joys within.
- Carley Fortune’s novel This Summer Will Be Different is being adapted at Netflix. Yesterday, it was announced that Sophie Nelisse (best known for her roles on Heated Rivalry and Yellowjackets) will be playing the series’ lead Lucy. Then today, news dropped that Roby Attal and Francesca Reale will be playing siblings Felix and Bridget, rounding out the series’ main trio.
- If you haven’t read This Summer Will Be Different, check it out here. It’s such a fantastic novel!
- Hope is not lost for Bones fans! There’s still a chance that the series could come back, there’s just a few obstacles it might face. David Boreanaz weighed in on the idea of a reboot.
- Check out the first look at the new Carrie series coming to Amazon
- Tyriq Withers and Isabel May will be starring in an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios rom-com called Love Love
- There is a new film about gymnastics on the way called Nasty
- Gymnast Suni Lee announced her comeback to elite gymnastics this week with hopes to make the Olympic team for LA28. She is going to be the subject of a new film from Fanatics Studios which aims to document her journey back to the mat.
- Dolly Parton is going to be celebrating her 81st birthday this winter and her show Dolly: A True Original Musical will be opening on Broadway on January 19th, 2027 at the St. James Theatre. Previews will begin on December 7, 2026.
- Taylor Jenkins Reid announced this week that she has a new novel coming in 2027 called The Last Days of Vic & Coco which she describes as a love letter to female friendship. This will be the 10th published TJR novel, 2 of which have already been adapted for the screen and 5 more are already in the works.
- I’m a big TJR fan but for some reason hadn’t read her newest release Atmosphere until this past week and… Wow, just wow. That novel was absolutely astonishing. It was beautiful. It is, hands down, my favorite novel of hers and likely going to be my favorite novel I read from this year. I can’t recommend it enough!
