In case you missed it, HBO released the first trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter series, which is premiering on Christmas. If I’m not mistaken, they were initially projecting a 2027 release, so this announcement comes as a nice little surprise. Check out the trailer below.
There’s also a new 13 Going on 30 movie reboot in the works from Netflix. The film is set to star Emily Bader and Logan Lerman. They have not released a logline or plot details yet, but Jennifer Garner, who starred in the original film, is attached to the project as an executive producer.
Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers are back with a new series on Netflix called Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. The series is created by Haley Z. Boston and produced by the Duffer Brothers.
It is a mini series and all of the episodes are streaming on Netflix now. The series follows Rachel and Nicky, a couple to be married in a week, but will they make it to the wedding? Something very bad happens in the seven days leading up to the ceremony. Check it out here.
If you’re a fan of the beloved Lord of the Rings series, you will be thrilled to hear that there are two movies in the works, one that’s written by Stephen Colbert and his son. Check out this article for more info.
Some other fun TV news: Bridgerton season 5 and Nobody Wants This season 3 are both officially in production and Connor Storrie, who recently starred in Heated Rivalry, is set to make appearances on the upcoming season of Criminal Minds.
Some fun movie news: Hudson Williams, who recently starred in Heated Rivalry alongside Storrie, has signed on to star in a film called Apparatus alongside Dylan O’Brien. It is a thriller set to film in Toronto. A new A24 film is also in the works called Peaked, which Dua Lipa is now attached to. The film is about two high school mean girls who are trying to relive their glory days at their 10 year high school reunion. Connor Storrie is attached to this film as well.
Connor and Hudson rose to quick fame after their roles on Heated Rivalry and it doesn’t seem like they’re planning to stop anytime soon! The second season of Heated Rivalry is projected to start filming this summer with a release date in the spring of 2027.
If you’re a Broadway fan, the proshot of Merrily We Roll Along, which was in theaters this past winter, will be heading to Netflix on April 4th. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez. Massachusetts’ own JoJo is headed back to Broadway – she is joining the production of Chess and will be playing Florence. She has previously appeared in Moulin Rouge. Lastly, a proshot of the West End production of Hadestown is on the way from Bleecker Street, who released the proshot of Waitress the Musical back in 2023. It will be in US theaters on July 24th and they will be announcing a UK release date later.
Lastly, Hannah Montana celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the pilot episode on Tuesday. In honor of the Hanniversary, Miley Cyrus and Disney+ released a special, which you can watch here. Have your tissues ready, because it’s a tearjerker! As someone who grew up watching Hannah Montana with her family, this special got me all sorts of emotional. Airbnb is also celebrating the anniversary by listing Miley’s Malibu home. Unfortunately, the property went up on the site yesterday and all available bookings have been made, but check out the page here to stir up some nostalgia.
