The sun’s out, life in Hollywood is buzzing, and I’m here to share all of this week’s updates with you!
If you’re a reader, this week was a big one! The highly anticipated final season of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty premiered this week and it’s got fans going crazy!
The series is based off of Jenny Han’s beloved book series of the same name and if you’re a fan of summer love and teen dramas, this is the show for you! It’s very reminiscent of the early 2000s WB dramas.
Two episodes dropped on Wednesday and there will be a new episode that drops every Wednesday until the series finale on Wednesday, September 17th. You can watch here.
Two other iconic books of the last few years also received exciting news this week.
Ali Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis is being developed into a movie and they announced this week that Lili Reinhart will be playing the film’s main character Olive and her love interest will be played by Tom Bateman! As a HUGE Ali Hazelwood fan, I am THRILLED about this casting.
If you haven’t read the book, it’s a romance that follows a PhD student who begins fake dating a professor at the university she’s studying at, but along the way, it seems they start forgetting that the relationship is a ruse. There’s a funny connection between the origins of the novel and this casting announcement, check out this article to learn more.
An adaptation of Carley Fortune’s debut novel is also in the works and casting was announced yesterday. Fortune’s book is a beautiful novel about first loves and second chances. It takes place on the lake and is the perfect summer read. Check out the casting for this series here, which has been renamed Every Year After.
Another exciting adaptation that’s on the way is the Harry Potter series at HBO. We got our first look at the series this week, check out the photos here! The series is expected to premiere in 2027 and projected to be a 10 year project. Each season is supposed to follow a different book in the Harry Potter series.
If you’re a Stranger Things fan, check out the teaser below of the upcoming, final season!
The final season is set to premiere on November 26th at 5pm PST and will drop its final episode on New Year’s Eve at 5pm PST. I have not been able to confirm this yet, but there are rumors that the episodes are around (but mostly over!) hours each and the finale is looking like it will be 3 hours.
I just gave you a lot of things to look forward to, but if you’re looking for something now, you can catch the new Billy Joel documentary on HBO Max! It’s called Billy Joel: And So It Goes. Part 1 is on the streamer now, and Part 2 will be up next Friday. The film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival this spring and it looks into the singer’s life and career with interviews and never before seen footage.
See you back here next week! The Buzz is brought to you by Dini’s tinis – Martinis in a Can!
