Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz! I don’t have very much new content to share with you this week, but what I do have is A LOT of things you can look forward to in Hollywood in the coming months!
This week, Billy Joel’s newest film Billy Joel: And So It Goes premiered in New York and seems like it was a hit! Unfortunately, Joel was not in attendance at the premiere, but the film does seem to be getting great reviews so far! If you missed the premiere, the film will be on HBO Max in July.
The band Kiss was also in the news this week after casting for a new biopic was announced! Nick Jonas is set to play Paul Stanley in a new film called Shout it Out Loud and it’s predicted to start filming late this year or early next.
The movie plans to look at how the band was formed as they began a journey that got them recognized for their face paint, outfits, and shock-rock performances. Apparently, Stanley and Gene Simmons have been working on developing the film for years. They have not announced yet who Simmons will be played by.
If you’re a loyal Stranger Things fan, you’ve been patiently waiting for the series’ final season and it’s finally set in stone now. Volume 1 of the series will drop on November 26th, Volume 2 will drop on Christmas, and the finale will drop on NYE.
As for what you can stream now, all of the original Hunger Games movies are on HBO Max if you’re looking for something to watch this weekend.
Something you all know I’ve been counting down to later this year is the second installment of Wicked and they finally dropped the first trailer this week! Check it out below. If you’re a big Wicked fan, just a fair warning, it will probably get you tearing up!
If you like Wicked, chances are, you probably like Hamilton too, and believe it or not, Hamilton is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! In honor of that, members of the original Broadway cast are going to be reuniting at the Tony Awards this weekend for a special performance! Yes, that includes names like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Jonathan Groff, and TONS MORE!
You can catch the awards show on CBS and Paramount+ at 8pm this Sunday night.
A few other exciting things:
- The second season of Nobody Wants This is premiering on Netflix on October 23rd
- Kane Brown is going to be in a romcom with Taylor Lautner called The Token Groomsman
- Heart is making a return
- Beetlejuice is returning to Broadway
- The *official* trailer for Carina MacKenzie and Julie Plec’s new show We Were Liars is out now, just ahead of the June 18th premiere date of the series!
Thanks for checking out The Buzz this week, brought to you by Dini’s Tinis!
