Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz!
I ever thought I’d be writing this, but as we celebrate graduation season, we’re also celebrating another achievement: Kermit the Frog giving a commencement speech!
Last night, he gave a speech at the University of Maryland and hoped that it would give the graduates a leg up in their future endeavors. He was the only muppet in attendance, but even so, it’s a great achievement! His speech gained wide praise and was noted as being inspiring!
As for music, big changes are happening in the rock and roll world! Kelly Hanson, the lead singer of the band Foreigner for two decades, announced he is leaving the band at the end of the summer.
He announced during a medley performance of Foreigner’s biggest hits on The Voice that his successor will be Luis Maldonado, who has served as a guitarist for Train and has also worked with artists like Lisa Marie Presley. You can read more here.
Foreigner will be at the South Shore Music Circus this summer on Tuesday, August 5th if you’d like to see them!
If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, Lilo and Stitch, the new Mission Impossible, and new Final Destination movies are all now in theaters.
The movie isn’t out yet – we still over a year until the release – but they have released an open casting call for a role in Sunrise on the Reaping, the newest installment in The Hunger Games series. Check out the post here and maybe we’ll see YOU in the new movie!
As for books, a new Harper Lee book is set for a release this fall. Harper Lee wrote the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, but before she wrote that sensational book, she wrote some short stories.
The collection of short stories is going to be called The Land of Sweet Forever: Stories and Essays and will feature eight short stories. They will reach into themes like politics, equality, art, and the American South. You can look forward to that from HarperCollins in October.
Thanks for being with me for The Buzz this week, brought to you by Dini’s Tinis!
