Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend!
This week, Michael J. Fox announced that he is publishing a new memoir! The book is called Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum and it’s set for release on October 14th, coinciding with Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary this year.
The book is a look back in time at Fox’s experiences in Back to the Future and Family Ties, particularly the year 1985. During this time, Fox was working on Family Ties during the day and Back to the Future at night and the book is going to look at what it was like to play those two iconic roles at the same time. The book will also feature interviews with cast members from both projects and it promises a ‘slice of entertainment history that’s never been told’.
Fox has described this book as something that ‘has basically become a time machine for me’.
Check out the cover below! You can preorder the book now wherever books are sold.
If Back to the Future celebrating its 40th anniversary scares you, this will scare you even more: Jaws is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
In honor of the anniversary, Jaws is swimming back to theaters across the country. Labor Weekend (August 29th – September 4th), Jaws will be shown in theaters across the US, but if you don’t want to wait until then, Alamo Drafthouse theaters will be screening the movie throughout the summer, starting on Memorial Day Weekend.
Alamo Drafthouse also has a lot of Jaws merch including a shark shaped popcorn bucket with jaws that hinge open to reveal your popcorn, according to their website. The popcorn bucket is currently sold out, but if you’re still wanting one, you can sign up to be notified when they’re back in stock.
If you don’t want to see the movie in the theater, it’s going to be on Peacock starting on June 15th and Universal is releasing the film on Blu-Ray as well.
You can also celebrate the anniversary on Martha’s Vineyard (where the movie was filmed!) this summer. Check out this page for more info.
Something you can look forward to on Netflix is the upcoming reboot of Little House on the Prairie. I’m not sure when it’s coming out, but the streamer has confirmed there is a reboot in the works that, according to the show’s logline, promises to be ‘part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale and part origin story of the American West.’
They have announced who will be playing the Ingalls with Alice Halsey playing Laura, Luke Bracey playing Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald playing Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes playing Mary.
I will update you as I learn more info!
The thing that I personally am the most excited about is the promo for the new Prime series We Were Liars, created by Carina MacKenzie and Julie Plec. Updates on this show have been few and far between, but over these last few weeks, fans have been learning more and more about the series. It’s going to premiere on June 18th on Prime, with all 8 episodes dropping at once. Check out the full promo below!
If you’re looking for something new to watch this weekend, Katie Holmes has joined the cast of the Peacock series Poker Face. Season 2 dropped its first episodes yesterday on the streamer, and Holmes’ role had been kept under wraps prior to the season premiering. She is joined by Cynthia Erivo, John Mulaney, and Awkwafina joining the cast this season as well.
As for movies, there is an Anthony Bourdain biopic in the works, set to film in Massachusetts! It’s casting Massachusetts restaurant workers, so if you’re interested, check out this article for more info.
There is also a new Lord of the Rings movie coming in December of 2027 and several new 10 Things I Hate About you films, which you can read about here.
If you’re looking for new books, Carley Fortune released her fourth novel this past tuesday. It’s called One Golden Summer and is the follow up to her sensational novel Every Summer After. If you love romance novels, this is the one for you! Rachel Lynn Solomon also released a romance novel this week called What Happens in Amsterdam! I haven’t read as many of Solomon’s novels as Fortune’s, but the ones I have read I LOVED, so I’m sure this one is just as good! The Blues Brothers are also back in their first ever graphic-novel!
And to close out, here’s a feel good story about Donny Osmond: He and his wife celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary which you can read more about here!
Thanks for reading! As always, The Buzz is brought to you by Dini’s Tinis – Martinis in a Can!
