Happy Friday, listeners!
This week was a big week for nostalgia!
The cast of the Breakfast Club reunited for the first time in 40 YEARS this past weekend at a fan convention in Chicago! It was the first time fans saw Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, and Anthony Michael Hall together in decades – Esteves even said that he got emotional seeing his former castmates.
If you missed it, you can catch the full panel with all five actors here.
We’re also going to see a new version of the Parent Trap soon as a parody play is opening Off-Broadway. The show is called Ginger Twinsies and promises a parody show with ‘nostalgia, camp, and some unexpected twists’!
Previews begin on July 10th and the show will stay open through October 26th.
Another reunion to look forward to is the Clueless TV series headed to Peacock. Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her role, but no further details have been released yet.
Big casting announcements have also come out for the HBO Harry Potter series. The actors who will be playing Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, Hagrid are John Lithgow, Janet McTeer (Ozark), Paapa Essiedu (Black Mirror), Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead). They also cast Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse as Professor Quirinus Quirrel and Argus Filch.
Emily in Paris also had some exciting casting announcements this week – it seems that everyone will be returning to the series (even Lucas Bravo who previously expressed some doubts!) except for Camille Razat.
Another fun reunion this week was between Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki in an ad for Royal Kingdom. Check it out below.
This fun news though comes at the same time unfortunately as the cancellation of Cuoco’s Peacock series Based on a True Story.
If you’re a Supernatural fan, I learned over the weekend at a Supernatural event that Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins have finished filming The Boys, so we will be seeing that reunion on Prime (hopefully) very soon!
And lastly for reunions, Leslie Odom Jr. is headed back to Broadway as Aaron Burr in Hamilton! This is HUGE news for Broadway fans – he will be back in the show from September 9th through November 23rd and tickets are on sale NOW!
If you’re a Sex and the City fan, the spin off And Just Like That will be premiering on Max on May 29th. Other shows to look forward to are the adaptation of the novel Carrie Soto is Back (which Serena Williams is working on!), Dead Letters on Netflix which is being led by Lucy Hale and based off of Caite Dolan-Leach’s novel, and Lindsay Lohan has landed her first TV series starring role in the show Count My Lies on Hulu, based off of the book by Sophie Stava.
As for movies, Jennifer Lopez is set to star in film The Last Mrs. Parrish which is being directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future & Forrest Gump).
Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood – fan favorites on the most recent season of The White Lotus – are predicted to be working on something new together too. It’s off the record right now and nothing is confirmed yet. There aren’t even details on the project yet. But it has been said ‘there is something professionally that they are doing in the coming weeks together’.
If you’re looking for books, Priscilla Presley is releasing a memoir called Softly, As I Leave You Life After Elvis. It is going to be released on September 23rd and is described as centering on ‘the “deeply personal story” of what she “lost and what she found” as she discovered who she was apart from her first love. This included a “touching and tender dynamic” with her ex following their divorce’.
Lastly, the Tribeca Film Festival lineup has been announced with Billy Joel opening up the festival. On June 4th at The Beacon Theatre, they will be screening the world premiere of Billy Joel: And So It Goes. It is ‘A sweeping portrait of a true New York icon, this definitive documentary captures the grit, genius, and soul of William Martin Joel — from his Long Island roots to sold-out stadiums. With rare archival footage and revealing new interviews, the film charts the rise of one of America’s greatest singer-songwriters, whose music became the heartbeat of a city and the soundtrack of a generation.’
Enjoy your weekend and your Easter and I’ll see you back here next week!
