This was the busiest week we’ve seen in Hollywood in months! From TV renewals and cancellations to feel good moments to poking at nostalgia, this week had it all!
Let’s start with a feel good moment: Local actor Steve Carell warmed hearts this week and even brought a tear to teens’ eyes when he announced he was working with the charitable organization Alice’s Kids to provide prom tickets to teens in California.
After the devastation parts of southern California faced in January with the wildfires, Steve and Alice’s Kids are working to provide free prom tickets to six different schools affected by the disasters. Alice’s Kids is a charity which aims to provide financial assistance to children in need in hopes of helping to raise their self esteem.
I’ve always loved Steve Carell, and it’s moments like these when I really remember why!
As for nostalgia, Joshua Jackson was in the headlines a lot this week in anticipation of the return of his show Doctor Odyssey. The show returned last night and it was a crazy episode! Definitely not one you’ll want to miss. I also read this crazy theory about the series that you can learn more about here. I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t gotten the chance to see the show yet.
If you haven’t seen Doctor Odyssey – or if you’d like to catch up on the ABC series – you can catch up now on Hulu or Disney+.
Joshua was on GMA this week as well as Jimmy Fallon. Something that made his appearance so special on Fallon was revisiting his role of Pacey Witter from Dawson’s Creek. Check it out below!
If you’re a fan of Dawson’s Creek and want to make part of the series your own, the home that Joey Potter lived in is up for sale! The series did use the interior of Joey’s home on screen, so for a super fan, this probably sounds incredible!
It’s on the auction block starting at just $29k, but here’s the catch: only the home is for sale. The land the house sits on is not for sale, so whoever purchases the home will be responsible for moving the home after the sale.
If you’re looking for something to listen to this weekend, check out Dolly Parton released a new song about her late husband today and you can listen to that here. Other new music you can listen to is a new album by country star Tyler Rich, a new album from Lady Gaga, a new single from the band The Summer Set, and my personal favorite, a new single from the newly formed country duo Ryan and Rory. Check out the video for Ryan and Rory’s new single below.
Sorry Hall & Oates fans, but Daryl Hall spoke out this week saying there’s no hope for a Hall & Oates reunion, but Elton John fans, there’s a fun video I think you all should check out and I’ll link it below! He joined Chappell Roan on stage to sing a rendition of one of her songs Pink Pony Club and it’s such a sweet video seeing him support the young singer!
As for podcasts, Richard Marx has started his own show called Stories to Tell and you can listen to it here OR watch it here. The How I Met Your Mother podcast that we talked about a few weeks ago called How We Made Your Mother debuts on Monday.
In terms of TV, the Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty is returning for its final season this July, the show The Recruit was cancelled this week after two seasons, we got more insight into the upcoming season of the new ABC series High Potential, Neil Patrick Harris joined the cast of Dexter: Resurrection, and Jennifer Coolidge spoke about missing being part of The White Lotus.
If you’re looking for movie news, Shrek 5 is coming (in 2026…), Netflix is in the process of adapting Taylor Jenkins Reids’ novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Selena Gomez in talks to play Evelyn, and David Arquette is reportedly returning in Scream 7.
As for what you can watch this weekend, check out this article for a handful of recommendations.
Jordan Chiles, Olympic Gold medalist, was in the news a lot this week, particularly with the release of her new book that came out on Tuesday called I’m That Girl. She also was in the headlines with her Olympic teammate Jade Carey talking about their college gymnastics careers and the Barbies that were created of them for International Women’s Day.
Speaking of Barbies, check out this fun article about the most popular toys of 1995.
Lastly, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, stars of the CW series The Vampire Diaries, were featured on Hot Ones this week! This was one of the funniest videos I’ve seen in a while – Ian and Paul have such a great dynamic and if you were a fan of TVD, this is the video for you!
Also check out this interesting article I found about Vampire Diaries.
See you back here next week!
