It may be Friday the 13th, but that’s not stopping us from sharing The Buzz, brought to you by Dini’s tinis!
This week was a big one for our favorite 70s and 80s bands–
The Eagles are celebrating 51 years of their album One of These Nights and will be releasing a deluxe edition of the album on May 1st. It will be a three-CD/Blu-ray set that features a new mix of the album and a previously unreleased concert that was recorded on September 28th, 1975 in Anaheim. It will also be available on digital. It is available for preorder now.
Plus, the upcoming Bon Jovi biopic got the green light from Universal Pictures. The movie is going to focus on the band’s formative years and the hurdles they had to cross to get themselves to full stadiums across the world.
Speaking of the 80s, Baywatch is getting a reboot this fall on Fox. The new series will be similar to the original series, but will feature new characters and new storylines, including Mitch’s son Hobie Buchannon. Some names that are tied to the project are Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, and more. I don’t have a release date yet, but it is projected to be part of the 2026-2027 slate.
In other tv news, Dan Levy’s upcoming comedy thriller series Big Mistakes is premiering on Netflix on April 9th and they’ve finally released the official trailer. There’s also a new Family Guy spinoff in the works called Stewie, which has received a two season order.
As for books, Valerie Bertinelli’s new book Getting Naked The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect is out now as well as Liza Minnelli’s book Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!
In terms of movies, the highly anticipated film Red, White & Royal Wedding has finished filming and the live-action Tangled film has started adding to its cast, including Kathryn Hahn. They also announced that the film adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s novel Remarkably Bright Creatures will premiere on Netflix on May 8th – check out the teaser here. It’s such a beautiful story, so if you haven’t read the novel yet, consider picking it up before the movie premieres!
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, The Gates – James Van Der Beek’s film – is in select AMC theaters starting today and the movie Reminders of Him is in theaters today as well. Also, the Oscars will air on ABC on Sunday night at 7pm.
And we’ll close out The Buzz this week with three stories that are close to my heart –
- Hannah Montana premiered on Disney Channel TWENTY YEARS AGO this year and Miley Cyrus has planned a Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special that will premiere on March 24th, exactly 20 years after the pilot. You can check out the trailer here!
- We Were Liars, the Carina MacKenzie and Julie Plec series based off of E. Lockhart’s novel of the same name, is moving forward with season two! They’ve begun the casting process and also announced that Dempsey Bryk, who played Ebon in season one, has been upped to a series regular in season two! If you haven’t seen the show yet, you can check it out here – and bring your tissues! The end really packs a punch.
- Candice King – one of the stars of The Vampire Diaries and We Were Liars – is writing a memoir called Good Vampire. The book is ‘a memoir-in-essays told through the lens of the lessons she has learned from her iconic character Caroline Forbes, exploring how – and if – she lives up to the character that changed her life. For publication in Fall 2027.’
See you back here next week for another edition of The Buzz!
