Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz – brought to you by Dini’s tinis Martinis in a Can!
This was a sad week in Hollywood to say the least. James Van Der Beek, star of Dawson’s Creek and loved by many, passed away on Wednesday. He was battling stage 3 colorectal cancer. James has been, and forever will be, one of my favorite actors and his death has hit me harder than any other in Hollywood.
Dawson’s Creek is a tv series that my parents and I watched together when I was younger, and it’s something that will always bring us together. We had the pleasure of meeting James back in 2024. He was so kind and meeting him meant a lot to me when it happened, but now I’m even more grateful for the opportunity to speak to him and meet him in person. Hollywood this week has been flooded with tributes to James and his family, some of which you can see here.
Over the years, James has starred and guest starred on so many different series and films, and if you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, you can watch Dawson’s Creek on Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+, Varsity Blues on Paramount+ and Prime Video, Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 on Hulu, The Rules of Attraction on Apple TV and Amazon, and How I Met Your Mother on Disney+. He will also appear on the upcoming Prime Video series Elle which is premiering in July.
There is also a Gofundme that has been set up for his family.
On a happier note, Bad Bunny gave an amazing performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday evening and if you’re looking to take a piece of that performance home, some of the Sugarcane costumes are up for sale on eBay.
It seems only fair that we talk about romance today, given that Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. If you’re looking for a new film to get in the spirit, the most recent Wuthering Heights adaptation is in theaters today! It stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
Entertainment Weekly also did a great job compiling a few lists of romance movies – including a list of the 15 Best Rom Coms on Netflix, the 22 Best Romantic Movies on Netflix, and the 10 Best Teenage Romance Movies on Netflix.
I also found a great list of romance novels to check out this weekend, check that out here! I’ve been making my way through Rachel Reid’s Game Changers/Heated Rivalry series, which I have been loving! I also love Ali Hazelwood, Ally Carter, Christina Lauren, B.K. Borrison, Sally Thorn, Abby Jimenez, Emily Henry, and Carley Fortune, some of whom you will see on the list I linked above! Each of these authors is sure to please the romantic in your heart!
A few quick things to look forward to:
- Severance is coming back for season 3 (and potentially season 4!)
- There is a Dancing With the Stars convention happening this summer
- Ray Romano is making his Broadway debut next week
See you back here next week!
