Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz!
This week’s stories were… interesting, to say the least!
I learned this week that April is National Stress Awareness Month and in honor of that, Marvel released an eight and a half hour video of Hugh Jackman breathing – dressed as Wolverine, of course – with the caption, “April is National Stress Awareness Month, so breathe deep and feel your adamantium bones melt away.”
To be honest, I didn’t find much (or, any) stress relief from watching the video and closed out of it pretty quickly, but if you’d like to watch it, you can find it linked below.
If you’re a Twilight fan, you’ll be able to catch Twilight in concert later this year. The show is described as a ‘cinematic live-to-film event that brings the beloved saga to life through live music. Featuring a breathtaking performance by a 12-piece ensemble of rock and orchestral musicians, this extraordinary experience allows fans to relive Bella and Edward’s epic love story in a way that is both intimate and mesmerizing.’
If you’re interested, the tour will be visiting 60 cities in the US this fall, stopping in Boston on November 2nd. You can find tickets for Boston and see all of the tour dates here.
Another show you can see in Boston this fall – one you all know I will make sure I’m at – is Frankie Valli at the Chevalier Theatre on November 22nd. You can find those tickets here.
Another fun little music news-story this week is a conversation Ed Sheeran had with Alex Cooper. He talked about wanting to make a transition into country music. He said he’s made country songs in the past, though they haven’t been released. He said that this transition is kind of like his end goal, because once you transition to country music, you can’t transition back. So, it’s more of a when vs. an if situation as to whether we’ll see Ed making country music sometime in the future.
He showed great respect for the genre, saying that you have to do it ‘properly’ and that it’s a genre you have to really respect. He also said that Nashville is his favorite city in the US, so he’d ultimately like to move to Nashville as he makes this transition.
I haven’t watched the video, but if you’d like to hear the whole interview, check out the video below.
As for TV news this week, we’re coming up on the release of the final season of You which is dropping on Netflix on April 24th. In honor of that, Mooney’s bookstore – the store in which Penn Badgley’s Joe worked in season one – is opening its doors for REAL. On April 22nd and 23rd, you can visit Mooney’s in NYC from 12pm-9pm at 489 Broome Street.
A Carrie TV series was also greenlit this week. It will air 8 episodes on Prime Video from Mike Flanagan. You can read more about that here.
Another show that’s on the way which is very close to my heart is The Waterfront coming to Netflix on June 19th. The show was created, written, and executively produced by Kevin Williamson who also created Dawson’s Creek, Scream, and co-created The Vampire Diaries.
The Waterfront stars Melissa Benoit, Mario Bello, Holt McCallany, Jake Weary, and Danielle Campbell, and you may even spot some familiar locations, as parts of The Waterfront were filmed in Wilmington, NC like Dawson’s Creek. Check out this article for more info!
If you’re interested in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer film – a movie franchise which, coincidentally, started with Kevin Williamson’s screenplay in 1997 – check out this story. Jennifer Love Hewitt had some interesting things to say about the upcoming sequel!
A story that might stir up some nostalgia for you is about the Brady Bunch cast and an on-again off-again romance throughout the years – check that out here.
Lastly, lots of books and book-ish hobbies were in the news this week, including what Colleen Hoover book adaptations are in the works as well as some bookish retreats and camping trips that are planned. One of them is right here in Massachusetts!
And if you want to talk about White Lotus, potential casting for Sunrise on the Reaping, and hear some of the news I learned about upcoming television series while I was in Georgia last weekend, check out the extended podcast here!
