Jordyn’s Buzz – March 10th, 2023

Welcome back to the Buzz! It’s been a busy week in Hollywood, so I’m excited to dive right in!

This week, we got our first look at Owen Wilson’s new movie Paint. Wilson’s character looks suspiciously like Bob Ross and he has his own series similar to Bob Ross’ television series in the film, but Wilson is playing a fictional character named Carl Nargle.

The trailer paints an excellent teaser for the film, and I’ll be curious to see how it all shakes out and what the film ultimately turns into and if it will actually connect to Ross at all. In the movie, Nargle is struggling to maintain his fame as a new artist (Ciara Renee) gains popularity.

Check out the trailer below.

And now this news I am especially excited about! As an avid reader and writer, I was ecstatic when I saw Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones and the Six was being adapted into a limited series on Amazon Prime. My excitement only amplified when I saw that Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse, and Riley Keough were part of the cast.

The first three episodes of the series dropped last week and I think you all will love it. Not only is it a fantastic show and story, but as the music lovers I know you all are, I think it’s a series that’s right up your alley.

The show follows a band called The Six who are up and coming in Hollywood. When they reach a breaking point in their career, they’re paired up with another up and coming artist named Daisy Jones to collaborate and take both of their careers to the next level. And with that, their careers explode. Only problem is: there’s an immense amount of drama amongst the group and love grows where love shouldn’t grow and it leads to the band breaking up.

Sound familiar? Word on the street is that the story was inspired by Fleetwood Mac. Seeing this caught my attention because as a fan of music and a fan of literature, I wanted to be part of the momentum this book/series was getting. Then, I did some of my own research, and there really are some stark similarities between the novel/series and Fleetwood Mac’s drama.

The music on the show is fantastic – as Easy 99.1 listeners, I know these tracks are ones that will suit your music taste. They even released an album of original tracks written and performed by the band in the series.

You can find the album here, there are some awesome songs there!

Now, if that didn’t sell you enough, there are also nods to Elvis in the series, like featuring a guitar strap similar to Elvis’ and more importantly, Riley Keough (Daisy Jones) is Elvis’ granddaughter, so there’s so much potential here.

Three new episodes dropped on Prime today, two more will be released next Friday, and the following Friday we’ll get the final two episodes. Check it out here on Prime!

Lastly, Peter Gabriel announced this week that he’s going out on his first solo tour in over a decade and he’ll be at the TD Garden in Boston on September 14th. If you’re interested, you can find tickets here.

See you next week!
