Jordyn’s Buzz – September 23rd, 2022

Welcome back to another week of The Buzz – we’re happy to be back with you on air and online!

First up, Kelly Clarkson was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.

She was the very first winner of American Idol 20 YEARS AGO, and this past week, she received her very own star on the Walk of Fame.

To make the occasion even more special, the three original judges from her season, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul were at the ceremony, all speaking of her with glowing praise.

Cowell even made a comment that he thought to himself that because of Clarkson, there would be another season of the show, and boy was he right.

Here are some pictures from the ceremony from an LA Times article about the ceremony:

Something that we’ve talked a lot about on The Buzz is the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Robbie was on Jimmy Fallon this past week and spoke about how she had been mortified when the photos from the movie leaked.

If you haven’t seen the photos, you can look at them here.

She said she knew that there would be a little bit of attention doing exterior shots in LA, especially with the outfits she and her costar were wearing, but it got so much more attention than she thought, she said it was like mad. It was the fact that production was so highly publicized that had her dying on the inside.

The movie is set to be released in July of 2023.

Today is an exciting day in the film world as well with one of the most highly marketed films of the year landing in theaters today: Don’t Worry Darling.

Don’t Worry Darling was directed by Olivia Wilde and stars Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and Olivia Wild and is expected to do extremely well in the box office.

For all you Emily in Paris fans out there, while we still don’t have a release date for season, we do have some new promo shots from the upcoming season, making it harder and harder to wait for the next set of episodes to drop!

If you don’t know Emily in Paris, it’s a Netflix series that follows Emily (played by Phil Collins’ daughter Lily Collins) as she navigates her new life in Paris and all the troubles that are thrown at her between not speaking the language, a difficult job, and a sticky love triangle.

Here are some of the new shots posted on the Emily in Paris Instagram:

Adam Levine has also been in the headlines this week, having allegedly sent inappropriate messages to 4 women, despite being married, though he claims no affair has happened.

Leonardo DiCaprio has also been in the news, confirming he is officially in a new relationship with Gigi Hadid. DiCaprio, 47, has always had a soft spot for Hadid, 27, they have a handful of mutual friends, and he’s hinted that at nearly 50 years old, he has less of an interest in the playboy lifestyle.

Last week, we talked about how The Music Man announced that it’s closing in January and it was just announced that even more changes are headed to Broadway.

Dear Evan Hansen closed this past Sunday,  Beetlejuice is closing in January of 2023, and probably most surprisingly, Phantom of the Opera is closing in February after a 35 year run on Broadway.

Lastly, the Wicked the musical film adaptation has a new member added to its cast: Jonathan Bailey. He has been cast as Fiyero, the love interest of both Glinda and Elphaba. So far, we know that he’ll be starring alongside Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, but the rest of the cast has been kept under wraps.

The movie is being released in two parts: the first will be released on Christmas of 2024, and the second on Christmas of 2025.

See you back here next week!
